MEGAN UYENO’S REFLECTIONS
Over the past few weeks, with such a drastic change in our
world, obviously I had many questions: How long will this last? How will school
and grading work? What about exams? How will Evan graduate? What is my dad
going to do? Some of my questions have yet to be answered, but I believe God
will answer them soon.
School is very different now, and it will most likely take a
while to get used to, but I think it will become more normal soon. It’s a
little stressful, but has taught me to be more independent and responsible. I
need to check the online class pages every day, and write all assignments down.
The hardest part for me is that I need to keep track of what time assignments
are due. For example, Japanese assignments are due at 3 PM, biology assignments
are due by 4 PM, geometry assignments are due by 6 PM, etc. Although this has
been difficult for me, it has helped me manage my time better.
On Thursday, I had a quiz for Japanese, but we had to take it
on our phones while our WebEx meeting was in session, and move back from the
camera so that our teacher could see us and make sure we weren’t looking at our
books. As for final exams, I’m still not sure how we will do them.
The class that I was most interested in seeing how it would
work was my PE class. We won’t get to do our swimming unit, but we need to
exercise for at least an hour every day, and send in a picture or short video
of us working out once a week.
I’m glad that my middle brother, Sean, came home because he
can help me to be less bored, and can also help me with my homework. I wish
Evan could come back as well, but he has a big project that needs lots of
equipment, so it was more convenient to stay in Oklahoma. We aren’t sure how
his graduation will work.
My dad has been working in his office and seeing patients in
the hospital. He is seeing less patients in the office and doing some
online/video appointments. He is also working with the Kuakini Medical Center
and the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific administrations and physicians
to help coordinate those hospitals’ responses to the COVID pandemic.
I hope things get better so that we can all return to church
(in person) on Sunday mornings. We will continue to pray for our CCH Ohana
during this time.
