YOUTHFUL VOICES

QUARANTINE P.O.V. BY ADAM TABA

My time with this ongoing crisis has been very fun as well as pleasant. Two of my classes were physical activity classes which I have continued to do with Amy. We exercise at 10pm every night using a workout technique called TABATA. I also have another class that I am unable to do work for because it is all hands on. Due to the corona virus issue, I only have work for two of my classes with optional work for one other class.

The reason this has been super fun is I am able to stay home, with unlimited internet to watch YouTube, being able to sleep whenever I want. The amount of homework I have has been drastically reduced and being the introverted person I am, I don’t mind the fact I haven’t talked to anyone in over a month. Our family has been watching Disney movies a lot, and we have completed a 1000-piece puzzle and a 500-piece puzzle.

Our Roosevelt Senior prom was supposed to be last night, as of the writing of this article (4/11). I am really sad about this because this would have been my only senior prom. I can’t say I didn’t see this coming, but it is very sad for every senior that we won’t have another prom.

I have committed to the University of Oregon and will go there starting Fall 2020 where I will start my journey to become a cyber security specialist. I’m really excited to go to the mainland. I want to experience what the mainland has to offer in terms of the people and environment. I will be going into Computer Science and Information Technology.

I hope everyone is doing well and being safe. I look forward to the day when I can enjoy the amazing aloha hour food and see everyone again.

EASTER RESURRECTION GARDENS

In this and Wednesday’s issues of Stay Community!, we will include never-before-seen pictures of more results of the Easter Resurrection Garden kits prepared for the church school by Ron and Sharlene Yamauchi and Kathy and Vernon Chock.

Garden by Adam, Amy, Aidan

Interesting notes about Mia’s garden as reported by Mom—Tammy:

“I love the resurrection kit too...Mia and I got so excited when the grass started to grow because we were doubtful (the seeds looked so big). Not much around our neighborhood or house 🏡 in the form of beige stones so we improvised 😇. Kathleen [Tuckness] had left her little lamb (which was precious to her [given to Kathleen by her grandmother]) for Mia so we gave it a temporary home.”

Oops! Must cut the grass to see Lamby.
